Indie Club Night
Went to the IndieClub workshop and film night on Saturday.
There were three short presentations:
City Permits and Regulations, by the Seattle Film Office
Musical Composition and Film Scoring, by Hummie Mann
Casting and Working With Agencies, by Tanya Tiffany
The permits and insurance information was very timely for my upcoming project "The Lake"
Hummie Mann is one the NorthWests film composing masters with way to many film credits to mention. His presentation was very helpful and I want to have one of his classes score some music for the TV show.
Tanya Tiffany and her crew of actors did a bit of a set up to demonstate the difference professional SAG actors and non-union. I talked to her a bit about my project and requirements. Will try to meet up with her this week.
Also did a little networking with Raffaele Riconosciuto the director of the evenings film.
Make Believe

There were a lot of things in this film I liked. Some I didn't.
Kaelon Christopher Horst put in a great performance. This guy is going places with his career.
Composing was done by some of Hummie's students(Barb Blevins, Dean Jensen, Brian Olendorf). I liked the scores, but there was way too much of it in the film. Could have been that the volume was too loud in the editing, but I found the music too distracting, hence my perception that there was too much of it.
Overall, as a film, it was a little too artsy for my taste, but there was some great cinemtography and the theme of a young man's struggle to come out his make believe world back to reality was effective.
Raffaele Riconosciuto and Scott Tuton did good job as a short feature and the film should be considered their debut work into the film festivals. Expect more good things from these guys.
